The Mental Health Counsellor is responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of counseling and therapeutic interventions, referrals, prevention and intervention services for mental health, addictions, critical incidents response to trauma related incidences delivered to community residents. Secondary role of supervision for mental health and addictions workers.
Provide individual, family and group counseling and therapy sessions as required, serving the needs of individual clients, couples, families, youth, and the elderly of the community focusing on mental health issues, trauma, critical incidents and emergency response.
Conduct home visits to promote healthy lifestyles, offer information about therapies, deliver or refer clients to counseling and therapy, and provide follow-up care
Facilitate self-help groups (Anger Management, Depression and Anxiety, etc.)
Coordinate community workshops on issues related to mental health (e.g. depression, suicide prevention, family dynamics, PTSD and unresolved grief and loss)
Assist in the development of an organized community social/recreation program including wellness activities
Liaise with off-reserve agencies and service providers as required regarding service delivery to Saulteaux members
Work as a team member by participating in case conferences, staff meetings, and workshops organized by other staff members agency representatives from outside the community
Transportation/Travel Information
