Camp Coordinator positions are open to individuals with interest in and previous experience working with children and youth in a day camp environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist with Staff Training and staff meetings and provide resources to staff throughout camp
Supervise and ensure safety for all camp activities
To act in place of Camp Director if he/she is not present
Regular maintenance and inventory of equipment and first aid kits
Assist with campers and counselors
Ensure staff time-sheets are accurate
Ensure all camper forms are completed including medical forms
Maintain all camper files and have accessible at all times
Camper absenteeism tracking (phoning parents)
Management of staff schedules (bus stop schedules and absenteeism)
Ensure all staff are completing all daily paperwork, including sign-in/sign out forms, head counts/sunscreen sheets, and filing camp journal entries.
Be available to answer questions from staff and parents
Provide fun, positive and active leadership to campers and staff
Create a caring, supportive environment for all staff members and campers
Communicate effectively with campers, their families and other staff members.
Maintain open communication with Waterfront Supervisor, Camp Counselors and Camp Director
Uphold all Camp Rules
Be responsible for the safety and security of all participants in your care, at all times following the YMCA Policies and Procedures
Must be the first to respond and execute Emergency Procedures
Ensuring cleanliness and upkeep of facilities; some maintenance may be required
Be a positive role model and mentor to the staff, CITs and volunteers
Report concerns to Camp Director
Some evening work and overtime is required
Other related duties as assigned
Individuals who are attending school full time before and after the summer are preferred.
Must be available to work all eight weeks of camp and participate in all training activities.
