Role: Under the supervision of the Summer Play Program Coordinator the Leader is responsible for leading and providing appropriate supervision of participants at the White City Summer Play Program.
1. Supervise the activities at the White City Summer Play Program to ensure the care, safety and security of participants during program hours.
2. Plan and implement a varied recreational program involving crafts, active and quiet games, sports and special events for children.
3. Maintain daily records of attendance, program activities and incident reports in the Log Book.
4. Maintain an inventory of program and first aid supplies.
5. Use appropriate behavior modification techniques when supervising participants.
6. Ensure that equipment, facilities and grounds are safe play areas for children.
7. Communicate with parents / caregiver of participants on a daily basis.
8. Work Cooperatively with the Librarian to plan and administer the Summer Reading Program.
9. Ensure all Town of White City policies and practices are adhered to.
10. Work cooperatively with other program partners.
11. Provide a final written evaluation of the program to the Recreation Director.
12. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children.
- Able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills.
- HIGH FIVE Healthy Child Development Certification required prior to commencement of the program.
- Police Record Check
- Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR required prior to commencement of the program.
- Minimum age may apply.
Employment Period: 4 weeks of employment beginning: July 3, 2017. Applicants MUST be available during this period. The Summer Play Program ends July 27, 2017 and the Play Leader may not be employed past this date. Duration and hours may vary depending on participant attendance.
