This position is a component of the Student Employment Program, which is dependent on government funding. Government funders state that applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations. Applicants must also be between the ages of 15 and 30 and returning to full-time studies following the period of employment.
As an intern at the Festival you will be under the direct supervision of the Executive Director and the Operations Coordinator. The Festival Interns will be responsible for supporting Festival staff to help ensure the successful execution of the 21st annual Saskatchewan Festival of Words in Moose Jaw.
Tasks will include:
assisting with the administration and development of a marketing campaign
assisting with the acquisition, organization, and management of paid advertising and in-kind goods and/or services
The coordination, implementation, training, and supervision of volunteers
The management of an individual event, our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
Assisting with staging, signage, scheduling, and public and presenter relations at the Festival
Note: The interns will be required to submit a written progress report and self-evaluation to the government funders upon completion of the program.
Required qualifications:
second year (or higher) registered post-secondary student returning to full-time studies in the fall
strong oral and written communication skills
interest and/or experience in promotions, event planning, marketing, creative writing, arts
enjoys and may have experience working with a variety of people of all age groups
possesses basic computer literacy and knowledge of social media (Mac experience an asset)
