Description

Paper Excellence Canada has grown from a single mill to a multinational company producing 2.5 million tonnes of pulp and paper with over 2,500 employees. With seven mills in Canada and three in Europe, we are continuously investing in our mills and the communities.

One of our mills, Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp Inc., is the world's first successful zero-effluent discharge market pulp mill that is a state-of-the-art, chlorine-free BCTMP facility. Meadow Lake is a non-unionized mill.

Reporting to the Mill Manager, the Technical Manager will provide strategic direction and leadership to the department, managing staff in a collaborative, team environment while ensuring safety standards and full compliance to all regulatory requirements are being met.

Main Responsibilities:
- Direct all aspects of customer service including quality specifications, information & complaint response.
- Direct engineers and technologists in areas of operating cost, quality control, and process optimization.
- Negotiate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits.
- Establish and maintain appropriate mill-wide environmental programs.
- Assistance in the development and implementation of operational strategy and/or capital improvements.
- Monitor, control, and recommend improvements on chemical, energy, and other process additives.

Ideal Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering or relevant discipline
- 10+ years experience in a manufacturing environment with 2+ years in the management level
- Kraft pulp, TMP, and/or BCTMP knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of product cycle, material acquisition and sales
- Excellent project management and budget management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
