The Developmental Worker cares for children with diverse physical and mental needs. A DW provides assistance with personal care needs and assists with programming to meet the growth and developmental needs of children who are medically fragile.
This position would be a 4 week rotation and possible positions of day/night rotations or straight days or nights.
*Work to meet the growth and development of the children
*Be engaged and at the same level as children during all activities. Giving hands on assistance where necessary, promoting appropriate and positive behavior, independence and self-confidence
*Implement a program that is inclusive of all children that promotes learning and fun.
*Transport children in a Hopes Home vehicle to community activities, school, and appointments.
*Participate in activities with the children and be engaged throughout while promoting learning and fun.
*Attend to personal care duties as required
*Perform general light cleaning duties such as laundry, cleaning floors, sterilizing toys etc.
*Cook meals and make lunches with the help of the children.
*Pick up and transport groceries weekly
* Write developmental assessments and anecdotal records to document developmental milestones
* Maintain current communications with Management, Nurses, and Recreational Programmer regarding developmental goals and care plans
* Write in DW/ECE Note page in childrens file when any changes or updates happen to a childs program or when documenting progress reports
* Research activities that can be done one on one and in group settings to work on the developmental milestones
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
Completion of (at least) one of the following:
1.Education Assistant Program
2.Rehabilitation Worker Program
3.Recreational Therapist Program
4.Kinesiology Degree- Adaptive Physical Activity
5.Continuing Care Aids
Or possess relevant and applicable education with
special needs (minimum 1 year experience)
