Job Description: Under the direction of the Regional Manager Oncology Pharmacy Services and reporting to the most responsible Senior Pharmacy Technician, the Pharmacy Technician/ Drug Distribution Technician provides technical pharmacy services to the patients and clients of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency.   The incumbent is responsible for integration of daily operational activities under the supervision of a pharmacist in an environment that is integrated with the pharmacy team to allow for maximization of the pharmacist's role in client-ffocused patient care.  Oncology pharmacy services in a Tertiary Cancer Centre require the performance of enhanced and complex Pharmacy Technician activities to safely and accurately provide and maintain timely drug product preparation and distribution.  These operational activities include preparation of sterile admixtures, compounding of pharmaceuticals, inventory management, drug cost management, workload information capture, dispensing of oral medications and the distribution of oncology medications and other pharmaceutical products to outpatients, inpatient nursing units and community-based (outreach) services within the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA) and the provinces Regional Health Authorities.  The Oncology Pharmacy Technician must demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and precision in the manufacture of oncology pharmaceutical products, including adherence to all standards and safety policies in the preparation of intravenous admixtures containing hazardous drugs.
