Description

The Saskatchewan Association for Community Living (SACL) is a provincial organization that provides support and consultation to individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families. The SACL is seeking a talented and motivated individual to fill the position of summer student to do research for the ongoing and internal purposes of the organization and board. The primary area of research will be focused on creating feasibility plan for a community-based, interdisciplinary mental health initiative that provides innovation in provisioning supports to individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health concerns or disorders. The key deliverables for this position will be:

1.    Compile analyses and research with the Community Inclusion Consultant for comparable programs and initiatives in other communities.

2.    Create a feasibility plan for a community-based, multi-disciplinary mental health program for people with intellectual disabilities.

3.    Identify community stakeholders for participation in a working group regarding co-occurring diagnoses (Intellectual Disability/Mental Health.)  

4.    Creation of support materials to disseminate to stakeholders and community members.

5.    Provide administrative support as is required for summer relief.

The ideal candidate will be able to work within a diverse and dynamic office environment. We are seeking a senior level undergraduate or a masters level student with experience doing social, community and policy research as they relate to Psychology, Social Work, and Community Development fields of study. In keeping with our mission the SACL makes reasonable accommodations in order to encourage a diverse and inclusive work force. Priority will be given to hiring a student with a disability. This position is only for the summer, contingent upon Service Canada funding.
