Description

Educates children by providing a comprehensive range of educational practices to support young childrens total development and to lay the foundation for school success and lifelong learning. Based on the multicultural philosophy of the Centre, provides a holistic and responsive and developmentally appropriate learning program wherein each child may develop to his or her potential; physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually.

This role also participates in organizing and administering the childminding provisions for children of parents in language classes. This position is well suited to those who have experience working with newcomer children, and may be ideal for students completing an Education degree, substitute teachers in the K to 12 school boards, or Educational Assistants.

**Education and Experience:

-Bachelor of Education with a specialization in elementary school education, plus, one year of teaching elementary school, OR
-Enrollment in a Bachelor of Education program or training as an Educational Assistant, with significant experience of one year or more in facilitating programming for elementary school-aged children.

**Required Licenses and/or Certificates:

-Certificate in Standard First Aid and CPR.
-Negative tuberculosis test.
-Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) certification - no criminal record (includes Vulnerable Sector Search) must be done within last three months.
-Medical certification that physical and mental health is sound and appropriate for working with children.
-Standard A Teachers Certificate issued by the provincial government, or Educational Assistant Certificate is an asset
