Responsibilities:
Provide fun, positive and active leadership to campers
Be a friend and mentor to campers and their families
Create a caring, supportive environment where campers feel that they can take risks, make new friends and try new things
Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
Current criminal reference check including vulnerable sector search
Previous experience and positive references related to working with children/youth
Clearly demonstrated a positive attitude and teamwork in prior work/volunteer situations
Can effectively communicate with children and adults
Be adventurous by nature and a love for the outdoors and recreation
Strong Swimmer-may be required to show proof of last swimming level completed
B.O.A.T. License would be considered an asset
Participate in staff training
Follow Bus Rules and Procedures before and after camp
Be responsible for children at your bus stop and not leave until everyone has been picked up and signed out
Prepare weekly plans appropriate to the program, skill level and age of participants
Communicate effectively with campers, their families and other staff members, especially the Camp Coordinator.
Be responsible for the safety and security of all participants in your care, at all times following the YMCA Policies and Procedures
Ensuring cleanliness and upkeep of facilities; some maintenance may be required
Diligently complete all paperwork each day including sign-in/sign out forms, headcount/sunscreen sheets, and camp journal entries
Be a positive role model and mentor to the CITs and volunteers
Some evening work and overtime is required
