The Cultural Intern will develop a comprehensive proposal regarding the future direction of UCC Saskatchewan Library Resources Centre.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Undertake an environmental scan and consultation process with key stakeholders in order to develop a clear Library vision, mandate, and objectives
Research and identify a suitable library cataloguing database, that is not only searchable on UCC Saskatchewan website but easy to maintain
Develop policies and practices to make the collection more accessible (online, awareness strategy, collection relevancy)
Catalogue donated and other new acquisitions
Review UCC Saskatchewans archive holdings and process them according to the UCC Saskatchewan archives policy
The successful candidate should have the following Skills, Training and Qualifications:
Effective research, analytical, reporting and project delivery skills;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to work independently as well as in a team;
Competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access);
Experience or strong understanding of the volunteer, not-for-profit community;
Familiarity with the Ukrainian cultural community of Saskatchewan as well as basic Ukrainian language competency are assets, but not required.
In accordance with Canada Summer Jobs program, applicants must be:
be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and,
be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
