Description

Who Can Apply: Indigenous students living in Canada.

A Day in the Life: You are a part of a student team (2-4 positions available) based out of the village of Waskesiu, located on the south shores of Waskesiu Lake in the heart of Prince Albert National Park in central Saskatchewan.
During the spring, your team will be trained on topics related to culture and the environment from elders, Indigenous educators, and parks staff. This training will build your skills as a story teller or interpreter and provide you with a balance of Indigenous traditional knowledge and western science.
Your role will be to utilize this training to plan, develop, and deliver your own program during the summer months to visitors and the general public.
As a team you will meet numerous challenges: solving problems and creating new initiatives to further the conservation and presentation of the national treasures within Prince Albert National Park.


Education:
    A full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited institution;
    Currently recognized as having full-time student status by the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled;
    Returning to full-time studies in the next academic term.

Experience    
    Experience working with the public (e.g. working in service industry).

Knowledge    
    General knowledge of the grasslands and boreal forest;
    General knowledge of Indigenous culture and heritage in Saskatchewan.

Abilities    
    Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills;
    Ability to work in a team environment;
    Interpersonal and leadership skills;
    Ability to generate new approaches and solutions;
    Ability to work in an outdoor environment;
    Ability to interact with and present to a wide variety of audiences.
