The Information Technology Technician will be primarily responsible for installing and improving telephone and data cabling at Seabee mine site and they will assist in maintaining computer hardware, software and networks.
The successful candidate will be implementing and improving network cabling within buildings and between buildings in accordance with good structured cabling practices.
The incumbent will also assist in providing hardware and software support and assist in improving the IT site documentation, practices and processes.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Improve the existing cabling for both data and telephone networks.
This will include tidying up existing cabling and installing new cabling.
Updating and improve existing documentation.
Install cabling as directed and assist in defining standards, practices and policies with regard to copper and fiber wiring.
Plan, organize and execute improvements minimal disruption the operations.
Help develop and implement policies and procedures for computer network operations and development.
Assist in sourcing hardware for enhancements in cabling.
2. Assist in supporting computers and network infrastructure.
Main Activities:
Troubleshoot hardware, software and network operating system
Be familiar with all hardware and software
Be familiar with network operating system
Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources
Monitor security of all technology
Input and maintain IP addresses
Identify and prepare hardware for disposal when appropriate
3. Perform other related duties as required during working hours.
This would include supporting the Cable TV environment; radio environment; leaky feeder and stench gas system.
Improving the lighting protection of computers and technical equipment.
