Position Start: May 15, 2017
Term: Up to one year - Leave coverage.
Responsibilities:
-Hire, coach, train, supervise, evaluate and schedule all aquatic staff and volunteers.
-Work directly with various user groups including swim teams, etc.
-Develops, promotes, plans and implements all aquatics programs.
-Provides support and/or teaches various Leadership Courses including Standard First Aid, CPR, AED, NLS; YMCA Swim Instructors.
-Ensures safety by following established Workplace Health and Safety practices and procedures; ensures monthly safety and audit checks of the pool; conducts WHMIS training.
-Builds relationships with staff and members.
-Provides leadership to the evaluation and implementation of the S.A.M. program and all quality related audits.
-Makes decisions and solves problems regarding members' concerns, and members' behavior.
-Actively contributes to the branch leadership team of the YMCA by providing support and direction to all staff and volunteers.
-Develop, measure and report outcomes for all aquatics programs
-Able to effectively manage programs and staff while maintaining flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends
Requirements:
-Post Secondary Education in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Recreation or related field preferred
-Supervisory experience is an asset
-Preferred applicants would have or willing to obtain the following:
-YMCA Swim Instructor
-National Lifeguard Service Award, Standard
-First Aid, CPR Level C
-YMCA Aquatic Trainer/Training Educator certification
-Lifesaving Society Instructor/Examiner an asset
-NLS Instructor/Examiner an asset
-WHMIS training
-Pool Operator's certification
-YMCA Group Fitness and/or Individual
-Strength and Conditioning Leader/Instructor
-Original Criminal record check dated within 3 months of hire
