The pharmacy student is under the general supervision of a pharmacist while working. He/she is under the supervision of a Pharmacy Technician while performing technical functions in the operation of the Pharmacy Department.
The primary responsibility in accordance to established policies and procedures is to:
-help prepare and distribute medications for use throughout Victoria Hospital and Parkland Integrated health Centre (PIHC)
-assist the pharmacist in dispensing of medications
-help the Director of Pharmacy gather statistical information, prepare graphs and prepare presentations
-help the pharmacists audit clinical services, prepare graphs and prepare presentations
-assist the pharmacist with clinical services as needed renewal lists, calculations, look up medication information (would depend on year of completion in pharmacy program)
-help prepare Pharmacy department newsletters and educational displays
Required Qualifications:
-must be enrolled in secondary education and a person enrolled in an accredited pharmacy degree program is preferred
-must be returning to secondary education in the fall
-Basic computer skills and must be able to use Excel spreadsheets + graphing and must be able to prepare PowerPoint presentations.
-Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in written English.
-Must be able to comprehend and converse in English and be able to communicate clearly and effectively to health care practitioners.
-Must be able to use pharmacy concepts and standards in varied situations
-Must be able to work collaboratively in small teams.
-Must be able to demonstrate a positive attitude and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.
Physical Nature of the job:
-must be able to move objects of various sizes and weights.
-some elements of the job are sedentary but you will be required to stand for periods of time and move throughout the facility
