POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working as a member of the health and safety team, you will be responsible for conducting workplace inspections, maintaining emergency equipment in a state of readiness, delivery of safety-related training programs and participation in incident investigations and job hazard analyses. You will take a proactive role in hazard identification and recommend corrective actions. The role requires the incumbent to spend a minimum of fifty percent of their time in the field.
You will participate in mine rescue and surface firefighting training. The technician will review and revise safety documentation as necessary. You will also be responsible for supporting workplace health and safety programs through education and mentoring to all levels of the organization.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements of the position:
Diploma or certificate in occupational health and safety or a related field
Three to six years of relevant work experience
Capable of obtaining or have obtained fire extinguisher maintenance certification
Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
Excellent communication and relationship building skills
The ability to work well independently and make decisions with little input
Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Assets:
CRSP designation
Industrial and wild land fire fighting management and experience
Occupational health and safety diploma or equivalent
Underground mining experience
Mine rescue certification
Standard Level First Aid
