This position will be of interest to candidates with a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Engineering Physics and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience. A postgraduate degree is considered an asset. Applicants must have good oral and written communications skills and be willing to travel.
Experience with satellite or cellular network technology is essential for this position. Knowledge in the following areas is an asset:
Satellite and terrestrial network architectures
Antennas and coverage analysis
Satellite communications payload concepts
Modulation and coding
Link analysis including propagation modeling
Protocols at physical, MAC, network and transport levels
Resource management concepts and methods including admission control, congestion detection and mitigation, load estimation and prediction
Interference analysis and mitigation
Virtualization of network functions
Experience with analytical techniques broadly applicable to resource management problems is critical for this position. Knowledge in the following areas is relevant:
Statistical methods for traffic and quality of service analysis
Multi-attribute optimization with irregular constraints
Planning and decision support methodology
Scheduling methods for mapping traffic to link capacity
Deep learning methods for reducing the dimensionality of an optimization problem
Analysis tools such as Matlab
Scripting tools such as Python
Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Visio
Programming languages such as C, C++, or Java
