The File Hills Qu'Appelle Tribal Council is a non-profit organization that provides a range of programs and services to 11 First Nations throughout Southern Saskatchewan within the Treaty Four Territory. The Healthy Choices Day Camp Coordinator will work as part of the Health Services team, based at the All Nations Healing Hospital located in Fort Qu'Appelle, SK.
The Healthy Choices Day Camp Coordinator will be responsible to implement Healthy Choices Day Camps to youth throughout the summer months. Work description will include:
- Plan, coordinate and deliver health promotion and education activities to youth and other community members within FHQ First Nations communities.
- Develop various health programming resources.
- Collaborate with the Health Services employees (Youth Leadership Team, Diabetes Team, Environmental Health Team, Health Education, Administration, etc.) in planning the healthy choices day camps.
- Network with community members (Elders, Health and Education Staff, Chief and Council), as well as First Nations Health Services Staff, All Nations Healing Center Staff, and File Hills Qu'Appelle Tribal Council Staff.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must be registered as a full time student during the 2016-17 academic year and returning to school on a full time basis in the 2017-18 academic year.
- Between 16 and 30 years old.
- Understanding of and respect for First Nations culture and traditions.
- Demonstrated computer skills.
- Communication skills, both oral and written.
- Organizational and coordination skills.
- Ability to work autonomously (a self-starter).
- A valid Saskatchewan driver's license.
Duration of Employment: June 5, 2017 to September 1, 2017
