Description

Prince Albert Grand Council is looking for a friendly, motivated self-starter for a Community Tobacco Coordinator position. Applicant should be able to effectively communicate with First Nations Elders, Teacher, Youth, Leadership, and First Nations community at large. The position will require regular travel to Prince Albert Grand Council First Nations.

The tobacco Control Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
-    Plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the Tobacco Control project within PAGC communities through a community approach and implement the 6 components Federal Tobacco Control Strategy
-    Work with the communities to implement activities as per community demand/interest in the tobacco project activities in the non-pilot communities.
-    Other duties as required.


Key Skills Required:
-    Ability to work independently and as a team player.
-    Ability to work with all ages, with a focus on youth, elders and community leadership.
-    Communication - Presentations, training, facilitation, written and computer skills.
-    Problem solving abilities.
-    Knowledge of the differences between commercial and traditional tobacco.
-    Communication skills - written, oral and computer skills.

Qualifications & Experience:
-    Undergraduate Degree or Diploma in Public Health, Kinesiology, Health Studies or related field.
-    Have a strong understanding of the social determinants of health and health promotion theory.
-    Experience working with First Nations communities including leadership.
-    Experience with health promotion/tobacco initiatives/community education as asset.
-    Applications should be a non-smoker.
