Description

Medical office assistant required to work directly with a family physician in clinic operations and in delivering patient care.  
The position requires availability Monday to Friday, and hours are part-time in a non-fixed schedule.  Typically a week will consist of 20-32 hours.
Duties:
Coordinates patient care through the clinic.
Answers enquiries by phone and in person in a helpful, respectful and efficient manner.
Maintains appointment schedule and manages recalls.
Maintains electronic medical record, including the patient chart.
Ensures exam rooms are stocked appropriately and ready for next patient
Ensures patient confidentiality.
Assists physicians when requested.
Collecting patient statistics, including minor lab work (blood sugars, urinalysis & HCG testing)
Cleans and sterilizes materials and instruments.
Performs patient prep procedures and documents findings in the patient record
Performs all other related clinical, administrative tasks or special tasks as required.
Manage the physicians schedule.
General administrative duties as assigned.

The successful candidate should have the following experience and/or skills:
-    Excellent communication skills including; telephone etiquette, written and oral.
-    Ability to work in a highly confidential environment
-    An interest in health care
-    Ability to talk to patients in an understanding way
-    Excellent organizational and time management skills
-    Ability to work well with other, and also work independently
-    Computer experience, typing skills
-    Ability to be flexible and adapt to new or changing requirements.
