The Ministry of Social Services requires a respectful, caring, and citizen-centered individual. You will work as a member of a team to deliver services to families and individuals (including people with disabilities and multiple barriers) receiving financial assistance under various Saskatchewan income assistance programs. Using information gathered through the assessment process, you will determine the eligibility for social assistance, the benefit level, and other services to which the client may be entitled by interpreting and applying complex multiple policies and legislation; and work with clients and community organizations to develop plans for enhanced independence self-sufficiency of the individual or family.
You will be responsible to plan and conduct interviews with individuals who may display a broad range of emotions and behaviours to gather and evaluate relevant information, and the need for services. You will have the demonstrated ability to organize, present, and record information in a clear, concise, accurate, and timely manner which allows others to understand the reasons for a decision/recommendation or the need for further action.
You are required to work flexible hours that accommodate the needs of the clients and the program. You will be required to travel. This position is part time with the ability to work full time hours. Part time hours are assigned by management but typically will average18 hours per week.
Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be obtained through completion of an undergraduate degree in social work, Indian social work, sociology or a related course of study.
