Description

The MLTC Office of Education is seeking two (2) dynamic, energetic, motivated individuals to fill two (2) full-time positions for one (1) Cree & one (1) Dene Language Revitalization Coach.  The successful candidate will coordinate different activities in each community dependent on their level of language loss and assist these communities in determining where they are in the language loss-revitalization continuum.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Providing consulting services to Traditional Language instructors and early childhood staff within MLFN schools
- Recommend and facilitate professional development activities for the nine (9) MLFN schools.
- Assist administrators and teachers in researching and implementing best practices in language delivery
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop a Language Instructor Certificate Program.
- Work with communities to develop holistic approach to language instruction (Land Based Education)
- Acquire, Develop and Share professional resources; ensure regular communication between all stakeholders
- Assist with MLTC Office of Education initiatives and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be fluent in the Cree or Dene language(s) and have experience in working with First Nations? Schools & Communities
- Experienced with Early Childhood development or Education
- Willing to travel to the First Nation Communities; work within a team setting and independently
- Excellent communication skills (Verbal/Written); decision making skills; professional judgment skills: and organizational/time-management skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in computer software applications (i.e. Microsoft-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.)
- A Bachelor?s Degree in Education; a Master?s Degree or commitment to begin studies in a field appropriate to the position?s requirements
- Saskatchewan Professional `A? Teachers? Certification or the ability to obtain such standing; and a minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience
