Description

The David Aplin Group, on behalf of our client, a leader in steel fabrication for specific industrial uses is seeking a General Manager to join their organization in North Battleford. This role holds key responsibilities for managing all aspects of our clients' manufacturing operations reporting directly to the ownership team.

With a team of over 25 employees including a strong management team consisting of  Shop Foreman, Sales Manager and Drafting Manager, the GM will oversee plant operations including QC, HSE, daily manufacturing work flow, as well as performance and planning. You will be accountable for meeting the performance objectives of the organization, including revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and operational improvements through your direct reports.

The Role:

Manage and direct all aspects of Plant Operations, Sales, Procurement, Customer Service, Quality and Administration
Consult with the Foreman and Shop Supervisors regarding labor forecasts, manufacturing schedule ,& inventory levels
Employs strategic development and growth initiatives
Recommends new approaches to manufacturing processes through lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement
Responsible for overall HSE procedures
Oversee procurement activities and direct the negotiations of major procurement contracts to provide proper cost, delivery and quality commitments
Work in conjunction with the Sales Manager in identifying and developing new business opportunities and core areas for growth, including sales and manufacturing capability development

The Ideal Candidate:

A minimum of 5 years management-related experience in a manufacturing/line production environment (steel industry experience is an asset)
Engineering or related technical or trade background
Strong communicator with an open style of leadership; hands on in their approach and is a strong decision maker
