Interprovincial Journeyperson Electrician Certificate is mandatory.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Receives written and/or oral instructions from the supervisor including wiring diagram and/or schematics.
2.Follows standard procedures and all applicable code requirements in installing, repairing and adjusting of electrical equipment.
3.Isolates electrical power to equipment for others as required, following standard safety rules and regulations, for the safety of himself and of others.
4.Locates failure or faulty component by using voltage tester, multimeter, oscilloscope, computers, etc. and by referring to wiring diagrams and/or schematics and PLC programs.
5.Checks and tests repaired or installed equipment and components for correct operating performance.
6.Performs preventive maintenance by inspecting, adjusting, lubricating, repairing or replacing faulty components on electrical, electronic, communication and micro based equipment.
7.Reports to supervision any development or conditions which, if left unchecked could result in premature breakdown or a safety hazard.
8.Instructs & directs apprentices in various aspects of electrician's work.
9.Able to operate equipment for testing purposes, such as mine haulage equipment, drilling equipment, cranes, etc.
10.Reports to supervision or in various log books, parts repaired, replaced or the type of work performed on all associated electrical equipment at the assigned work area such as blowers, compressors, hoisting equipment and cranes, hoisting equipment, pumps, wiring diagrams, schematics, batteries, chargers, welders, telephones, radio systems, network systems, lighting circuits, programmable logic controls, variable speed drives, inverters, converters, rectifiers, etc.
11.Maintains desired level of parts inventory.
12.Revises circuits and updates prints.
13.Performs other duties as requested.
