Assist with the planning and implementation of programs and activities for individuals with varying abilities.
Duties include:
- Provide skill development including life skills, social skills, and work readiness to prepare clients for community opportunities.
- Provide job coaching (on the job training) for clients during volunteer and/or work experience opportunities, which may include evenings and weekends.
- Collaborate to provide quality programs and activities for clients.
- Facilitate group activities with clients while participating in community and/or in-centre activities.
- Transport clients.
- Promote, instruct and model acceptable social behaviour.
- Maintain client records including attendance, goals, programs and activities.
- Contribute to and review personal program plans to ensure the objectives of the program and the goals of the clients are being met.
- Encourage clients in the areas of self-care, communication, socialization, recreation and participation to promote independence and self-esteem. If required assist clients with personal care to promote good hygiene.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Disability Support Worker Certificate (Rehabilitation Worker Certificate) or Life Skills Coach and/or related training and experience.
- Valid Class 5 drivers licence.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Crisis Intervention techniques. (certificate)
Experience:
- One year experience in related field
Skills:
- Well-developed interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with individuals with varying abilities, co-workers and community supports
- Effective time management, problem solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
