Description

A Page assists the Library Manager and staff in the daily operations of the library.

Key Responsibilities:
    To shelve returned library materials and to maintain shelves in call number order.  
    To move books into and out of storage, to assist with booksale, or to rearrange the shelved books as delegated by the Library Manager.
    To tidy the staff areas of the library, maintain the library plants, and tidy the public areas of the library as needed.
    To run errands as needed.
    To assist with library displays, bulletin boards, and posters as needed.
    To help people find items in the library and locate materials when needed.
    To help with local programming and library events (e.g. story hour crafts or author visits) under the supervision of and as delegated by the Library Manager.
    Various other duties as needed may be assigned by the Library Manager.

Qualifications
    Ability to deal effectively with the public in a courteous and friendly manner under stress, to handle situations with resourcefulness and tact, and to maintain effective working relationships with others
    Ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner, good verbal and written communication skills with accurate business English
    Able to follow written & oral instructions
    A neat and tidy personal appearance
    Must be a student
    A current criminal record check for STUDENT over 18 years old
    Young workers readiness certificate, proof of age, and written consent from parent or guardian for STUDENT 14 and 15 years old
    Ability to lift, carry or move library materials weighing 5-10 kilograms on a regular basis, with occasional items of up to 40 kilograms
    Ability to reach a range of shelves between 5 cm and 200 cm above floor level

Work Hours:     7 hours per week, evening and weekend work a regular requirement.

Salary:            $11.85/hour as per CUPE Local #3077 Agreement
