The ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER will work under the general guidance of the Finance Director and under the direct supervision and guidance of the Facilities Supervisor. The EHO provides best practice information, guidance, education, public health inspections and recommendations on matters relating to the day to day operation of BRT6HC Environmental Public Health Programming. The ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICERS work collaboratively together and with communities served by BRT6HC.
Position Requirements:
* To hold a certificate in Public Health Inspection; CIPHI(C)
* Complete CIPHI continuing professional competencies program requirements annually.
* Knowledge of both Federal and Provincial environmental health legislation and guidelines.
* Knowledge of jurisdiction concerns of various government and local authorities.
* Previous working experience in a rural community health setting is an asset.
* Previous working experience with First Nations people and demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues encountered by First Nation people and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures.
* Skills in the preparation of informative and engaging health presentations/training and teaching sessions.
* Proficiency in Access, EHIS, Watertrax and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher.
