The Community Dietitian is a support position supervised daily by the Health Director. In consultation to the Community Health Nurse and the Home & Community Care Nurse, the Community Dietitian will provide and promote a comprehensive Education & Nutrition Program in the areas of diabetes, chronic disease and in the overall health of an individual. The provision and promotion will be in conjunction with the Cowessess Health Departments program objectives, guidelines, procedures, policies and community needs and work as a member of the Health Team. The Community Dietitian will also provide advice and assistance to individuals and families on living a healthy lifestyle through proper diet and exercise.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and/or Dietetics;
- Must have completed an internship through an accredited program and be a Registered Dietition;
- Must be in good standing with Saskatchewan Dietitians Association;
- Being a Member of Dietitians of Canada is a definite asset;
- Must be knowledgeable of the health issues facing First Nations individuals;
- Must have facilitation skills to work with individuals and groups (both small and large);
- Must have a demonstrated ability to take direction and work well with others;
- Must have the ability to effectively manager their time and the ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Ability to maintain a positive relationship with on-reserve residents of Cowessess;
- Must have a valid driver's license and have a dependable vehicle;
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Must submit a criminal record check and drug screen along with resume (Vulnerable Sector Check)
Salary and Benefits are based upon Cowessess First Nation's Salary Grid.
