Description

The Prince Albert Police Service is inviting applications from qualified persons for the casual position of Communication Operator.   This position is responsible for the operations of a computer terminal and emergency response system console.  The position of Communications Operator includes both call taking and radio dispatch.  The Communication Operator is responsible for the deployment and radio support of Police units.  

This position is a shift work position consisting of 12 hour rotating shifts; that would include days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays depending on your shift schedule.

Qualifications and skills the successful candidate will bring to the position include:
    Grade 12 or equivalent
    Office related program or equivalent    (asset with legal terminology).
    Keyboard skills of 45 w.p.m
    Good working knowledge of computer systems.
    Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written)
    Ability to deal with confidential information in a professional manner.
    Ability to work independently and organize workload in a multi-task environment.
    Demonstrate the ability to articulate, express orally and with clear diction.
    Must deal effectively and tactfully with the public
    Previous dispatch or police experience would be an asset.
    As part of the hiring process candidates are required to go through a security screening process and complete a public-safety dispatcher/calltaker pre-employment testing.  (Criticall)
