PARKS TECHNICIAN

Permanent Full Time
The City of Weyburn is a dynamic, progressive municipality located in the heart of Southeast Saskatchewan. The City has a population of 10,500 and a solid economic and community foundation upon which new opportunities are continuously built.
This permanent, full time position is an integral component of our infrastructure maintenance and Parks Department processes. We are seeking a long term, goal oriented individual with interest in a municipal career.

The successful candidate will:
- perform all daily duties associated with Parks infrastructure maintenance and operation;
- be prepared to take direction and function in a team oriented, fast paced work environment;
- provide expertise, encouragement and support to summer and seasonal workers;
- maintain accurate duty logs and maintenance forms;
- be physically fit and prepared to work in the outdoor environment in all weather conditions;
- occasionally perform overtime work outside regular hours of operation;
- participate in the afterhours and weekend "On Call" rotation;
- perform all other assigned duties as required.

The successful candidate will:
- have completed Grade 12 or equivalent;
- have and maintain a valid class 5 driver's license;
- have a thorough knowledge of best practices and processes as they pertain to general horticulture, landscape and turf maintenance, urban forestry and pest control;

Preference will be given to those candidates who:
- possess or willing to obtain a pesticide applicator's license in both the landscape and mosquito & biting fly categories;
- possess or willing to obtain SIAST pruning certification.

Salary will commensurate with qualifications & as per CUPE Local 90 agreement
Parks Technician salary range $21.21 - $23.62 per hour (2016 rates)
