PRIMARY FOCUS
The Potato Field Agronomist will be responsible for the overall continuous improvement of Tuberosums variety development and agronomic testing. The agronomist will have a clear focus on the organized implementation and maintenance of healthy experimental plots and small plot trials. The Potato Agronomist will work closely with the Director of R & D to improve Tuberosums trialing systems to identify agronomic best practices for the promising material developed at Tuberosum. This will include but not be limited to hitting annual and 3-5 year agronomy priorities and KPIs to ensure we stay on the cutting edge of potato research worldwide.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage experimental plots to accurately assess yield and quality.
Provide Technical and Crop Intelligence Advice to the Director of R & D.
Develop and implement agronomy plans for various technologies developed at Tuberosum.
Oversee testing programs.
Operate and maintain field equipment.
Calibrate and optimize field equipment
Operate and Maintain Greenhouse production
Identify and Optimize agronomic best practices for greenhouse production
Manage, implement and report on Variety Trials.
Identify keys for commercial introduction of New Varieties with associated Best Management Practices.
Develop, Plan and Execute Agronomic Research Trials both small plot and commercial scale trials.
Conduct and report data collected on various trials.
Manage, implement and report weekly Field Observation Reports.
Manage, implement and report Bi-weekly Facility/Equipment Management reports.
Fertility management
Irrigation Scheduling and implementation
Liaise with regional crop consultants and local research community on agronomy and research projects.
