Duties and Obligations but not limited to:
- Administer the Muskoday First Nation Land Code and related policies and procedures that may be set by Council and/or the Lands Advisory Committee (LAC).
- Ensure compliance with the Land Code, Environmental Protection Plan and the Muskoday Land Use Plan
- Obtain the highest and best use of the lands and resources.
- In consultation with the LAC, recommend amendments to the Land Code.
- Provide technical support and assist the Lands Advisory Committee and attend all meetings of the LAC
- Handle member inquiries about land related issues.
- Communicate with MFN Chief and Council about land governance issues.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Completion of Bachelor's Degree in related field such as Resource Management, Environmental Science, Land Use Planning or a related subject matter. Combination of education and experience will be considered;
- First Nation history of land management.
- Excellent oral and writing skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Contract law and management.
- Local Government law and rules.
- Principles of natural justice and mediation.
- Thorough knowledge of "The Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management", "Transfer Agreement with Canada" and the "Muskoday First Nation Land Code".
- Provincial and Federal environmental laws.
- Real estate land practices which could be modified to support First Nation Land Governance; e.g. valuation and appraisal.
- Computer literacy.
- Negotiating skills, co-venture agreements.
- Communication skills; relationship building and other people skills to address internal and external relationships.
- Bookkeeping skills.
- Land registry practices and policies.
- Be a self-starter and work independently and set priorities.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
- Adhere to Muskoday First Nation, Alcohol and Drug Free Workplace Policy.
