Applications are invited for a temporary part-time (50%) Educational Assistant I position at Grenfell Elementary Community School commencing on August 29, 2017 and ending June 30, 2018. The successful candidate will work the equivalent of 3 hours and 5 minutes per day.

Educational Assistants provide a range of support services that help students to achieve their academic, social, physical and personal potential.  Educational Assistants assist students with intensive needs in five key areas, providing personal care, life skills and experiences, academic support, communication, and behavioural support as required by students and directed by teachers, to promote engagement, participation and success in school.

The successful candidate will have:Grade 12 or equivalent
Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma is a definite asset
First Aid, CPR and AED training is an asset
Specialized training in supporting students with differing abilities is an asset
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (will be provided)
Transfer, Lift and Repositioning training (will be provided)

Starting wage is currently $19.07 per hour.  A CUPE Agreement is in effect.  Prairie Valley School Division supports the principles of a representative workforce and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates.

Grenfell is a located on the TransCanada Highway, 120 kms east of Regina.  Grenfell is a distribution and service centre, is home to many nearby recreational opportunities, and is situated 15 minutes from the beautiful and historic Qu'Appelle Valley. Attractions include the Adare Museum, a modern medical health facility, fitness centre, curling club and many other services and amenities.
