Chief Mistawasis School requires CREE LANGUAGE INSTRUCTOR for the 2017- 2018 academic year.
Chief Mistawasis School is K.4-8 with approximately 180 students. Approved instructor salary grid is followed, and a comprehensive benefits package and pension plan is available.
We are currently seeking a diverse and creative individual that has the ability to create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued language development and retention; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Requirements:
Minimum Language Instruction Certification required or Minimum education degree (B.Ed.)/Saskatchewan Teachers Professional A certificate
Fluent Cree speaker Y Dialect
Be able to read and write Cree, either in Standard Roman Orthography and/or syllabics.
Have a solid understanding of Cree grammar.
Knowledge and understanding of First Nation Communities and their culture
Experience in curriculum development.
Proven leadership capabilities
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, and with other agencies.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Must possess good working knowledge of computer technology.
Understanding and awareness of local cultural milieu:
Valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle.
Requires strong human relations skills and the ability to work with people and students in conflict situation.
Valid Standard First Aid, CPR
