Captive is seeking a self-motivated problem solver to turn problems into products and ideas into reality.
YOUR JOB
The projects you work on here will vary from turning designs into websites to building a touchscreen kiosk to wiring TVs into trailers to lighting up Mosaic Stadium with wirelessly controlled LED bracelets. Captive is in a unique position to offer opportunities to work on all sorts of projects. We've built a business on executing things that are out of the ordinary or that almost nobody has done before. Whatever hobbies and skills you bring with you, we will find a chance for you to use them in exciting ways.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
You'll work with a team lead for technical guidance and a project manager for scheduling. You will be responsible for executing projects that will be at or slightly above your skill level. You'll need to be able to work with other staff to help translate problems into client requirements and propose a solution. You'll need to troubleshoot and support both your own work and the work of others.
YOUR SKILLS
We're primarily a Javascript/jQuery and PHP shop, and most of our products are put together in a browser. We want to see a history of executing projects in browsers including things like websites and single page apps, fluid layouts and using @media queries to make responsive layouts. Bonus points for some CSS3 animations.
The designers like to use Photoshop, so wed like to see you able to competently navigate around some image files and extract any assets you need.
We use MySQL or SQLite for data storage (usually). You should probably understand how to insert and retrieve data.
We want to see a strong overall technical background, mindset, and ability to understand more complex systems. Multi-disciplinary troubleshooting is a big part of this job.
