Radiation Protection Officer
Cigar Lake, SK
POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Cigar Lake radiation team is responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of employees at site by identifying radiation risks and mitigating those risks for successful production. In this role you will be responsible for supervising the daily activities of the radiation technicians, including guiding, priority setting and training. You will also be responsible for regulatory reporting, quality control, generating reports, developing quality control procedures and training staff.
In addition, you will manage the as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) program and code of practice, as well as radiation procedures and controls. You will provide advice to operations and senior managers in regards to radiation safety, investigate and report on conditions that exceed administrative and action levels, as well as provide guidance for corrective actions as required.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements of the position:
Technical/science-related diploma
Five to eight years of relevant work experience in underground mining, ventilation and/or occupational health and safety
Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
Previous supervisory experience
Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
