Under the immediate supervision of the Principal, the Teacher is in charge of providing teaching services to students of the Nakoda Oyade Education Centre at a professional standard.
DUTIES:
- Provide teaching services within a program of education courses with the highest professional standards consistent with the policies and procedures for the Nakoda Oyade Education Center. The candidate will work to equip middle years students with a strong knowledge of the middle years English Language Arts curriculum and will provide each student with an environment that fosters good character and healthy self- image;
- Consistently apply a discipline system for the pupils of the First Nation school;
- Perform supervision over pupils to protect their health and safety during school hours and after hours for school events;
- Participate in extra-curricular activities for pupils and general supervision of students on school playgrounds during play periods, on school property and over school rooms during noon hour and school hours and school events outside of school hours;
- Keep the Principal informed of significant events and correspondence concerning areas; under the authority of the Teacher affecting the quality of the education of the students and school operations;
- Communicate with parents about their childrens progress and behaviour;
- Provide role model leadership for the students consistent with professional standards and a code of ethics as may apply and be existence from time to time;
- Encourage students to foster an appreciation for the Nakoda culture, language and history;
- Maintain a collaborative working relationships with all NOEC staff;
- Knowledge of the Nakota culture and traditions an asset.
