Job Description: Surrounded by rich agricultural land, rolling hills, freshwater lakes and mixed forest, Porcupine Plain is a year-round destination. More than 200 species of birds make the park their home and visitors can spot various wildlife including fox, otter, moose and elk.



This is a full-time Registered Nurse position split between long-term care at Red Deer Nursing Home and Porcupine Plain Home Care with a case load of approximately 20 to 30 clients.



Red Deer Nursing Home is attached to Porcupine Carragana Hospital (with 24-hour emergency services and acute care) and offers its clients long-term and respite care options. The nursing home has 38 beds and is administered by Kelsey Trail Health Region.

Position Duties


Delivers direct client care activities including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and medication management.

Is responsible and accountable for the provision of safe client care services and programs.

Acts as Charge Nurse on weekends.

For both long-term care and home care clients, workload can include: sub-acute post-hospital discharge, dressings, ankle-brachial index (ABIs) and negative pressure wound therapy.
