Description

The Saskatoon Trades and Skills Centre (STSC) offers adults facing barriers to employment short skills courses designed to enable them to enter the labour market.
STSC is offering a Food and Beverage: Prep and Serve course. Each student chooses either the Food Preparation or Serving stream of the course. We are looking for an instructor to teach the Serving portion of the course. During the course the serving students, with the assistance of the instructor, will prepare beverages and serve a number of meals offered to the public. The serving instructor will work in collaboration with the cooking instructor to ensure quality of food service meals. The serving instructor is responsible for providing a positive learning environment where students are able to become prepared to meet industry requirements as a server.
Duties will include:
- Development of curriculum (some textbook material provided)
- Beverage menu and recipe planning
- Class and practical instruction of approximately 6 (primarily young) adults with no prior experience
- Oversee and coach students during service meals, problem solve as necessary
- Coordinate the purchasing and delivery of supplies, ingredients and materials
- Plan and oversee table/place setting set-up
- Liaise with Career Coaches regarding student issues to ensure effective student support
- Other duties as required

Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to effectively mentor and coach students
- Sensitivity to a wide range of cultures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to prioritize and multitask

Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years related experience
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sectors Search
- Ability to occasionally work flexible hours to meet student needs
- Experience working with a diverse client group including vulnerable individuals

Sept 11-Oct 5, Mon to Thurs, 1:30 pm-9:30 pm
$30.00/hour
Prep time in addition to the above hours is provided at $30/hour.
