Implement a public education and awareness strategy leading to developing employment placements and jobs for adults with disabilities. Require a good knowledge of disability and employment issues, barriers related to employment for the target group. Build and maintain good working relationships with clients, colleagues, members of professional disciplines and staff of other agencies.
1. Conduct public awareness events and meetings with employers to increase employment opportunities for the participants.
2. Support individuals into competitive employment.
3. Meet with participants and Employment Specialists to gain an understanding of the participants skills, interests, abilities and other characteristics.
4. Assist participants in resolving problems including personal issues which could affect employment.
5. Facilitate an appropriate match between the skills required by an employer and the skills and interest of a participant to perform the tasks of that job.
6. Assist employers in developing appropriate job opportunities (i.e. job carving) for adults with a disability who are experiencing barriers to employment.
7. Perform a task analysis of specific jobs, defining each increment in the work process and identify required work abilities in collaboration with Job Coach (if applicable).
8. Negotiate appropriate and individualized employment placements, which could include wage subsidies, job coaching or other supports as required.
9. Provide on-going support and follow-up to employers and participants to maintain individuals in long term employment.
10. Provide appropriate support for job coaches.
11. Monitor job placements.
12. Provide intervention needed to retain the job placement.
13. Research and track current labour trends and employment opportunities in Prince Albert.
14. Compile statistics and provide reports. Document files and case management action plans.
