Description

Prairie Diagnostic Services in Saskatoon requires a Term full time Laboratory Technologist for a position in the Microbiology laboratory that includes working weekends on a rotational basis. Typical hours of work are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The successful candidate will work in the bacteriology, mycology and parasitology sections.

The successful candidate will have superior laboratory skills typically acquired through the completion of a recognized appropriate technical school and/or university program and progressively responsible veterinary laboratory experience. Candidates must clearly indicate in their cover letter or resume how they have acquired the following: knowledge of scientific terminologies, theories, principles and applied methodologies relevant to the performance of veterinary diagnostic bacteriology, mycology and parasitology; microbial isolations and identification using MALDI-TOF or through the use of selective media, biochemical tests and microscopic examination; antibiotic sensitivities using Kirby Bauer and/or serial microdilution methods; use of anaerobic growth chambers, BioMIC and VIDAS rapid detection systems

Candidates with strong computer skills and the ability to contribute to a current research project involving antimicrobial resistance surveillance and an interest and willingness to cross-train in other laboratory disciplines are encouraged to apply.
