The Whitecap Dakota First Nation is seeking the services of a Community Justice Coordinator. This is a half-time position working as part of an integrated primary care team.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Community Justice Coordinator will:
- Address the mandate, goals, objectives, and priorities of the Community Justice Program;
- Coordinate adult and youth alternative measures in co-operation with justice personnel (Crown, RCMP, Court Workers, etc.)
- Attend court when required to so for clients on caseload, with proper Crown Summary Reports made available to the Court;
- Create a yearly justice programming work plan and budget based on the priorities of the community needs and within budgetary restrictions;
- Coordinate and/or deliver community justice awareness, education and prevention strategies to the Community through workshops, training sessions, orientations etc.;
- Attend meetings with fellow Justice Workers and/or Coordinators;
- Enhance Elder involvement in Justice programming and initiatives;
- Advocate for Whitecap Community Youth members as required (on reserve);
- Mediate for Whitecap Community Youth members as required (on reserve);
- Provide client services in court ordered programming;
- Facilitate a fine options program (Whitecap members only);
- Write proposals to enhance justice related programming within the Community.
Qualifications:
A degree/certificate in Human Justice/Sociology or relevant training/work experience (2 years);
Must have a valid Saskatchewan drivers license, reliable vehicle;
Must have a clear current CPIC (Canadian Criminal Record Check), which identifies a vulnerable sector check
