Description

Primary Purpose: To provide administrative assistance and project support to the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Food Systems and Security, ensure the smooth functioning of the office, and conduct timely and effective follow-up of decisions and implementation of assigned projects with minimal direction.  

Nature of Work: This position reports to the Executive Assistant and Director of Administration in the Global Institute for Food Security (GIFS) and is part of GIFS administrative team. This is a complex, high-volume position requiring the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Working with competing deadlines, shifting priorities, and good judgement is the norm. The Executive Assistant is expected to anticipate the CERCs decisions and have the confidence to take appropriate action. Problems encountered can be complex and require analysis, research, and planning to resolve. The standard for the quality of work and timely completion of projects is high. Considerable discretion is required as the position is privy to and works with confidential, strategic, financial, and personnel information.
