The incumbent would be responsible for, not exclusive, the following:
Provide initial screening and assessment of band members medical situation to determine urgency of needs. Once determined, provide a treatment plan, rehabilitation plan and one-on-one teaching or family focused teaching to promote independence and prevent deterioration of the current medical situation;
Provide means for patient to return to his/her maximum state of wellness;
Promote self-care of clients and encourage participation in health decisions and goal setting for care;
Monitor and follow up on treatments of clients with high risk acute illnesses or unstable chronic conditions;
Teach and supervise clients health self-care measures to prevent or delay the onset of secondary and tertiary conditions related to a chronic condition with inclusion of family and others;
Perform nursing procedures which may include and are not limited to dressing, medication monitoring, blood pressure testing, blood sugar tests, pulse, etc.;
Perform treatments and monitoring of client conditions as ordered by physician;
Perform home and /or hospital visits to assess and reassess needs when home care services may be required;
Dispense pharmaceutical in accordance with established regulations, policies, practices and safety procedures.
