JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Junior Buyer
Reports To: Senior Buyer, Contracts & Procurement
Location: Jansen, SK (Site Based Role)
PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION
The Jr. Buyer is responsible for the day-to-day purchasing of materials for the Jansen Project. This position will be accountable for ensuring all material purchases are compliant with the requirements of the contract between DMC and BHPB. This position will be accountable for conducting all business matters, both internal and external, with the highest degree of ethics, discretion, honesty, fairness and sound business practices.
The Jr Buyer will demonstrate DMCs core values of: Zero Harm, Win-Win Client Relationships, People Development and Innovation.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement
Assist in managing the day-to-day purchasing requirements.
Managed and maintain all supplier documentation for material suppliers.
Ensure the Purchasing Log is maintained and accurate.
Assist in developing spend data and analysis for Master Supply Agreements.
Manage the releases off of the Master Agreements.
Continuous Improvement
Identify areas of continuous improvement.
Record all cost savings.
Assist in training operation staff on purchasing procedures.
Work with the Sr. Buyer to develop standard templates.
Policies and Procedures
Ensure all new suppliers complete the General Information Questionnaire.
Assist in the maintenance of information within common data repositories.
Ensure compliance of Procurement and Materials Management policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Mechanical aptitude.
Possess or willing to work towards obtaining their Diploma in Purchasing and SCMP designation from SCMA.
3-5 years hands on materials management and logistics experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.
