Description

This position is responsible for developing and managing of the library region and also involves work with the SILS consortium.

Duties and Responsibilities:
    Acts as primary contact with the three levels of government and interprets library legislation, provincial and regional policies, and regional bylaws
    Responsible for public relations, partnership building, community development, and the diplomatic handling of relations with governments, service clubs, and etc.
    Responsible for the implementation of all policies, procedures, and regulation of the Region
    Communicates and coordinates with the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the Lakeland Library Region on regional issues and development
    Oversees regional collection development and the annual materials hierarchy through acquisitions and allocation of branch open hours
    Collaborates with the Administration Manager for the preparation of the annual budget for the Boards consideration
    Responsible for hiring and providing staff development; training, workshop or seminar for the staff, and administering collective bargaining process.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
    Knowledge of library administration methods and principles, and the library systems and policies
    Ability to plan strategically and to operationalize plans
    Decisive leadership skills
    Awareness of trends and developments in library, public, and non-profit sectors
    Familiarity with the provincial and municipal government processes

Qualifications:
    Relevant experience and familiarity with a unionized environment and non-profit organization
    Business, financial, administrative and library management experience
    Post-Secondary Education on related field or a combination of formal education and career experience
    Bondable and with a Valid Saskatchewan Drivers License
