Description

Job Summary:
Under the general administration and supervision of the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation Social Development team in support of children and families with the intent of identifying the best approach to support children, their nuclear and extended families with positive parenting practices. The Family Support Worker will be responsible for implementation  of approved Prevention Programs.
Skills & Qualifications
A degree/certificate in Social Work/ Social Sciences or relevant training/work experience (5 years)
Public speaking skills/group facilitation
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently or in a team environment
Must have a valid Saskatchewan drivers license, reliable vehicle
Must have a clear current CPIC (Canadian Criminal Record Check), which identifies a vulnerable sector check
Working knowledge of Microsoft software applications
Ability to work flexible hours, and;
Any other related duties that may be assigned
Employment Requirements
Be knowledgeable about FSIN Indian Child and Family Support Act and the Ministry of Social Services Child & Family Services Act.
Be familiar with case management, wrap-around case management, crisis intervention procedures, child-in care services and protocols.
Address the mandate, goals, objectives, and priorities of the Muskeg Lake Prevention Program
Coordinate and/or deliver Prevention workshops, training sessions, orientations etc.
Maintain strict confidentiality on all case files
Experience working with First Nations people, with an understanding of family-of -origin issues and their impact on the family and community
Perform other related duties that may be assigned
