Job Summary:
Focus On Families is a voluntary program that helps on reserve families on the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation to become the best parents they can be and to have the healthiest children possible. Focus on families receive support from a home visitor who will provide assistance concerning child development, parenting and connecting to the community. Home visitors help families to access services including early learning, childcare and transportation. Families enrolled in the Focus On Families program receive at least one home visit per week. Parents and their children under the age of five years who live on the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation.
Skills & Qualifications
A degree/certificate in Social Work/Social Sciences or relevant training/work experience (5 years)
Public speaking skills/group facilitation
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently or in a team environment
Must have a valid Saskatchewan drivers license, reliable vehicle
Must have a clear current CPIC (Canadian Criminal Record Check) which identifies a vulnerable sector check
Working knowledge of Microsoft software applications
Ability to work flexible hours; and
Any other related duties that may be assigned
Services available through the Focus on Families Program
Home visitation- in home on a weekly basis
Counselling-Focus on Families employs professional counsellors who work one-on-one with families in our program can provide referrals for speech pathologists
Daycare-Focus on Families are able to provide spaces at nehiyaw waciston Daycare for children 18 months and over
Transportation- Focus on Families home visitor can assist with transportation to appointments
