Description

The Provincial Library & Literacy Office (PLLO) is seeking an innovative, highly motivated, results oriented, strategic thinking individual to join the branch as a Provincial Cataloguing Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager, Library Network Development, and working in cooperation with Saskatchewans public library sector, you will lead and build consensus relating to bibliographic management and database best practices.

This position is expected to develop innovative solutions to new challenges and ever changing progresses.  You will have a strong understanding of the relationships between data elements and public services in order to help build better services for the public. You will have the ability to do research on library data trends and help shape future services in this area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the production and editing of metadata for the single integrated library system used by the public libraries in Saskatchewan. You will be solutions focused providing analysis for the public library sector partners on the appropriate creation and acquisition of metadata records, and be expected to develop a strong working relationship with the Saskatchewan Information and Library Services consortium office. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience working with the MARC21 standard and a variety of cataloguing software tools.

Typically the knowledge and abilities required to perform these functions are obtained through a Masters of Library and Informational Science (MLIS) degree.
