The Role
The Planning and Engineering department oversees complex planning, development and or capital projects, engineering projects. Evaluates development proposals and manages municipal projects to ensure the orderly development of a high quality road, water, wastewater and storm water infrastructure for the citizens of the City of Lloydminster. The Director, Engineering and Planning will lead a team of professional and technical staff that provides engineering and planning services covering a wide variety of areas of specialization including the City's transportation network, infrastructure and asset management, servicing and urban development, and corporate project management.
Specific Responsibilities and Duties Include:
Plan, organize, and direct the programs and functional operations of the Department. Developing project-specific and client driven goals, schedules, budgets and detailed assumptions. Ensure all key issues and their impacts in the community and municipal corporate interests are addressed in the finalization of plans, policies and development applications. Ensure that the planning, design and construction of all Capital Works Projects related to roadways, municipal utilities and municipal land development projects adhere to the Municipal Design Standards and adopted Master Plans (Transportation, Water Distribution, Sanitary Sewer, and Storm Sewer).
Specific Requirements for this Position are:
Knowledge of Municipal Government Act of Alberta; P. Eng with a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in the Engineering field; Candidates with a combination of experience and education related to municipal engineering may be considered. Possess a proven track record for product delivery, ability to meet deadlines, and development of project plans; Knowledge of municipal infrastructure design, construction, inspection and asset management.
